Easy Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Recipe

This cinnamon swirl French toast is perfect for anyone who loves a sweet, decadent breakfast. And the best part is, it’s done in under 10 minutes with only a handful of ingredients. For this recipe, I used cinnamon raisin sourdough bread, but any soft brioche-style bread will work well. It’s made by dipping thick sliced bread into a mixture of beaten eggs and milk, and then frying it in butter until golden brown. It’s a great way to use up stale bread and make it taste like fresh again. Homemade French toast is a great recipe for Sunday brunch or holiday breakfast and can be served sweet or savory.

Ingredients and Tools You’ll Need

  • Bread – for best results, use thick slices of cinnamon swirl bread, brioche bread, challah, sandwich bread or any other soft bread.
  • Eggs – medium size.
  • Whole milk or heavy cream – for the egg mixture.
  • Sugar – you can use regular sugar or brown sugar.
  • Pure vanilla extract – optional, for flavoring the egg mixture.
  • Ground cinnamon – to add another flavor to the egg mixture.
  • Butter – to fry the soaked bread slices and add a delicious buttery flavor.
  • Toppings – serve it with fresh berries, fruit compote or any other toppings of your choice. If you like, you can sweeten it with maple syrup, honey, powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.

Step 3

Place the slices in the pan and cook until golden brown over medium heat, about 2 -3 minutes on each side. Repeat with the remaining slices.

Step 4

Serve it hot with fresh berries, fruit compote, maple syrup or any other toppings of your choice.
